Kim's bachelors degree in Fine Arts and her insane love of coffee prepared Kim for her 11 year adventure here at Blackwater. Her passion for coffee started in the early 80's with her annual visits to Seattle to visit with family. The coffee craze had already begun...
Blackwater opened its doors in July 2005 after deciding Maple Plain needed a place to gather with friends over a delicious cup of coffee. Kim's husband of 23 years, John, rebuilt an empty, existing Maple Plain building on Highway 12 and Blackwater was born! Kim is often asked how they came up with the name Blackwater. The name comes from the color of rich, dark, really good coffee - it's that simple. Shortly after opening, Blackwater quickly became more than just a coffee house; the food that is served is made fresh and it soon became a lunchtime destination.
In 2013 Kim opened a second location, Big Byte by Blackwater. It is a private coffee shop, located at the corporate headquarters of Proto Labs, here in Maple Plain.
When not working, Kim enjoys time at the cabin with her family, walking with friends, biking the local trails, and ALL mediums of art.

Come and enjoy the music of Bill Greenwood. Here’s a description from his latest album:
You will find flavors of blues, ballads and alternative, but mostly rock-n-roll. His vocals have been noted as sounding similar to artists such as Joe Cocker, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Adams and Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls). Bill’s music is powerful, reflective, inspiring, and will touch your very soul.
Crooked Path, 12 Songs 12 Steps, came to fruition as a result of Bill’s experience with addiction. It contains songs that detail his journey from the hopelessness of addiction to the freedom that comes through surrendering to a higher power. This music will resonate with anyone who has hurts, hang-ups, or has been affected by the destructive cycle of addiction.
Playing music is Jill’s favorite way to spend time. She describes her music as a blend of alternative and folk and includes originals and covers. Through singing and playing guitar, piano and hand drums, Jill likes to keep variety in her sound and presentation. From a wide array of genres, she enjoys covering artists like Lana Del Ray, Widespread Panic, Miranda Lambert, Blind Melon and Janis Joplin. Her original music is inspired by both the momentous and everyday events of life and by the people who make the days interesting.
